We had a very enjoyable week in school this week.
On Thursday we were all so excited when our teachers told us that we would be doing an Easter egg treasure hunt! In teams of two and three we set off around the school following a trail of clues which lead us all to a selection of Easter treats.
Both rooms have also been busy completing lots of Easter art and craft. Múinteoir Lorraine’s room carefully sculpted some ‘Easter Baskets’ from clay and decorated them beautifully. Múinteoir Elaine’s room painted some lovely Easter baskets and Easter eggs.
We thoroughly enjoyed all activities and are looking forward to our Easter holidays.
Wishing you all a very happy and enjoyable Easter!
Well done to Stephen who took part in the Scór na bPáistí recently.
Stephen completed a wonderful recitation of ‘The Lake Isle of Inisfree’ by W.B Yeats. Although it was a super performance, unfortunately Stephen did not win this time.
We are all very proud of him for his fantastic effort.
The Missionary Society of Columban will mark its Centenary on Sunday 18th March in Shrule.
As part of these celebrations, the boys and girls in Múinteoir Lorraine’s class have been learning all about the Columbans and their significance to their local area.
In groups, we have completed wonderful projects about the Columban Missionary, Saint Columban, Dalgan House, Fr. Martin Noone and Fr. Michael Moran. These projects will on display in Glencorrib Church over the weekend if anyone would like to have a look and take a step back in history!
We have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Columbans and some of us are looking forward to joining in the centenary celebrations over the weekend.
Today we celebrated World Book Day. We have been busy bees over the last couple of weeks making our own costumes, with a little help from mums and dads! We really enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book characters and I think everyone will agree that all our costumes are fantastic!
Well done to everyone for making a tremendous effort. The judges had a very difficult time deciding on the winners, but congratulations to our winners:
1st: Matthew as the BFG
2nd: Cathal as SpongeBob
3rd: Luke as Scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz
Today was a very cosy day in Footsteps Preschool as all the boys and girls came to preschool in their pyjamas!
They were celebrating ‘National Pyjama Day’ as part of Early Childhood Ireland which raises money in support of lots of charities working with children with additional needs.
Helen and Mary made some yummy breakfast for all the boys and girls, including Cheerios topped with ice-cream, imagine ! A great morning was had by all.
