Trick or Treat!
What a scary and exciting morning in Glencorrib N.S!
Thank you to Garda Monaghan who popped in this morning to chat to us all about the importance of staying safe over the Hallowe’en break.
He was very scared of all our spooktacular costumes!
Wishing you all a very happy and safe Hallowe’en.
The Junior Room had a great day at the Museum of Country Life in Turlough yesterday.
We met artist Carmel Balfe who told us all about Samhain traditions. Carmel very kindly put on a wonderful Shadow Puppet show for us. Afterwards she helped each of us make a Shadow Puppet to tell our very own spooky Hallowe’en tale.
Whilst at the museum we also had a chance to visit their fabulous playground in the woods!
We really enjoyed the trip. Have a look at some photos from the day.
This week is ‘Climate Action Week’ which is organised by Green-Schools Ireland.
We are currently working towards our 4th green flag award for ‘Travel’. As part of climate action week and to help offset our carbon footprint we decided to plant some new flowers and trees in our school garden.
On Wednesday the senior room re-planted our window boxes with lovely winter flowers and also set some new shrubs in our sensory garden.
On Friday, each class planted a new tree outside. We can’t wait to watch them grow over the next few years.

This week we have been taking part in ‘Maths Week Ireland’.
As part of this, we have been busy doing lots of extra maths activities. We went on some maths trails outside, played maths games each day and even completed some maths inspired symmetrical art.

Last week we were delighted to welcome An Taoiseach, Leo Varadker, to our parish.
It was an honor to get an opportunity to showcase to him all of the fantastic work that we do here in Glencorrib N.S.
A big well done to Eleanor and Millie who read their wonderful poem to him, entitled ‘If I was Taoiseach For a Day’. The girls did an amazing job and we are all very proud of them.
