World Book Day

Today we celebrated World Book Day.

We had a very special visit from Gemma McLoughlin, who is an author from Ballina, Co.Mayo. Gemma showed us all how to create a book from pen to print including storyboard creation, character building and story development. She also kindly read us an extract from her collection of books ‘Little Red Head’.

Also, as part of ‘World book Day’ we all dressed up as our favourite book character. We have all been busy bees over the last couple of weeks making our own costumes, with a little help from mums and dads! We really enjoyed dressing up  and I think everyone will agree that all our costumes are fantastic!

Well done to everyone for making a tremendous effort. The judges had a very difficult time deciding on the winners, but congratulations to:

1st Place – Brendan as Gimli from ‘Lord of the Rings’

2nd Place – Ciara, Aoife & Dara as Mr. Fox, The Chicken and Farmer Bunce from Fantastic Mr. Fox

3rd Place – Laoise as Alice in Wonderland & Kayleigh & Ruth as Little Red Riding Hood & The Granny

Have a look at some pictures from our day…

SEAI Energy Workshop

Many thanks to Lucasz who visited us on Wednesday for an energy workshop as part of the SEAI education programme.

Lucasz told us all about energy, including how we can save energy. We also carried out lots of fun and interesting experiments.

We really enjoyed the workshop. Have a look at some photos from his visit.

Fire Safety

Many thanks to Mervyn, a fire officer with Mayo County Council, who popped in last week to talk to us about fire safety.

Mervyn told us all about a lot of very important fire safety rules and what to do in the event of a fire. He also let us try on some of his fire fighter uniform!

We really enjoyed his visit.
