Footsteps Preschool Glencorrib opened in September 2017 with eight children and numbers have continued to increase year on year. We offer ECCE places (free 2-year programme) and the National Childcare Scheme (www.ncs.gov.ie). We operate five mornings a week from 08.45am to 11.45am and follow the school calendar year. We are fully inclusive and welcome children of all nationalities and cultures. We very much welcome children with additional needs. We have a large, bright room with ergonomic and colourful furniture. We have a wide range of toys, equipment and materials to add to your child’s learning and enjoyment. We also have a large outdoor space which has been enhanced this year with a state-of-the-art Jungle Gym playground.
The staff of Footsteps are of the highest qualification. We ensure they are up-to-date on all Child Protection issue, First-Aid training and all current legislation. Staff are encouraged to complete training courses throughout the year and we support them with any further study to maintain our high standards. Please also be assured that all policies, procedures and guidelines relating to Covid-19 are strictly adhered to and that notifications received from the relevant departments are circulated to staff and parents.
Footsteps offer a HighScope Curriculum with the emphasis on learning through play. Our curriculum is Aistear and Siolta based. We also build and enhance our curriculum around the children’s interests. This is very important as it places your child at the centre and leads to a more positive learning experience for all. Our high achievements in our inspections by the Department of Education, Tusla and Pobal are testament to the service we offer.
We greatly value our connections with Glencorrib Primary School. We liaise regularly with staff. Unfortunately, due to restrictions imposed by Covid-19 we are unable to organise shared activities at present but we look forward to their return.
Footsteps particularly values Partnership with Parents and Guardians. We have always had an open-door policy and realise the importance of sharing an honest, open relationship. The restrictions imposed due to Covid-19 may have changed the way we are permitted to connect with parents and guardians but we have adapted to ensure that our partnership remains as it always was. For example, we send a daily group Whatsapp message detailing the activities of the day and we welcome calls, texts and messages should you have any queries or comments.
Parents know their children best so should there be any concerns our dedicated and experienced team are available to liaise with you in confidence. Advice can be given on strategies which could be adopted and/or supports such as equipment, Speech & Language, OT or any extra assistance which may be applied through the AIM Betterstart model (www.aim.gov.ie).
Your child’s happiness is paramount to us. Our service ensures that your child learns in a happy, safe environment while having fun and making new friends.
