Footsteps Preschool Glencorrib, (sister of Footsteps Shrule), opened in September 2017 with eight children. By June 2018 the number of children attending had doubled. We offer ECCE places (free 2-year programme) and the Affordable Childcare schemes CCSP and CCS. We operate five mornings a week from 9am until noon and follow the school calendar year. We offer school outings and special activity days including Birthdays, Halloween dress-up, our Christmas concert, and a Charity morning such as Pyjama Day.
We are fully inclusive and welcome all children from all nationalities and cultures. We very much welcome children with additional needs.
The staff of Footsteps are of the highest qualification. We ensure they are up-to-date on all Child Protection issues, First-Aid training and all current legislation. We also encourage that staff attend training courses throughout the year and we support them in any further study to maintain these high standards. We particularly encourage training with regard to children with additional needs.
Footsteps offer a HighScope Curriculum with the emphasis on learning through play. Our curriculum is Aistear and Siolta based. We also build and enhance our curriculum around the children’s interests. This is very important as it places your child at the centre and leads to a more positive learning experience for all. Our high achievements in our inspections by the Department of Education and Tusla are testament to the service we offer. We will update the website when the agencies involved upload their findings for public view.
We greatly value our connections with Glencorrib Primary school. We liaise regularly with staff and organise shared activities which is of great benefit to all and promotes a happy, positive environment. We have full use of the school’s extensive outdoor space, facilities and equipment.
Footsteps particularly values Partnership with Parents and Guardians. We have an open-door policy and realise the importance of sharing an honest, open relationship. As primary educators of your child you know your child best and should you have any concerns our dedicated and experienced team are available to meet with you in confidence. Through our owner, Edel, and our Inclusion Officer, Helen, advice can be given on strategies which could be adopted and/or supports such as equipment, Speech & Language, OT or any extra assistance which may be applied through the AIM Betterstart model (www.aim.ie).
Your child’s happiness is paramount to us. Our service ensures that your child learns in a happy, safe environment while having fun and making new friends.
