Footsteps Preschool Glencorrib opened in September 2017 with eight children! Since then
we have grown into a very busy service. We offer ECCE places (free 2-year programme)
and the National Childcare Scheme (www.ncs.gov.ie) for children who do not qualify for
ECCE. We operate five mornings a week from 8.45am to 11.45am and follow the school
calendar year. Afterschool care is available in Footsteps Daycare Headford and bus transfer
can be arranged.
We are fully inclusive and welcome children of all nationalities and cultures. We very much welcome children with additional needs. We have a large, bright room with ergonomic and colourful furniture. We have a wide range of toys, equipment and materials to add to your child’s learning and enjoyment. We also have a large outdoor space with a Jungle Gym and various outdoor resources.
The staff of Footsteps are of the highest qualification and Garda Vetted. We ensure they are
up-to-date on all Child Protection issues, First-Aid training and all current legislation. Staff
are encouraged to engage with CPD throughout the year and we support them with any
further study to maintain our high standards.
Footsteps offer a HighScope Curriculum with the emphasis on learning through play. Our
curriculum is Aistear and Siolta based. We also build and enhance our curriculum around
the children’s interests. This is very important as it places your child at the centre and leads
to a more positive learning experience for all.
We greatly value our connections with Glencorrib NS. Having an open, helpful and friendly
relationship ensures a happy environment for all and easier transitions to primary school for
the children. Footsteps particularly values Partnership with Parents and Guardians. We have always had
an open-door policy and realise the importance of sharing an honest, open relationship.
Parents know their children best, so should there be any concerns our dedicated and
experienced team are available to liaise with you in confidence. Advice can be given on
strategies which could be adopted and/or supports such as equipment, Speech & Language,
OT or any extra assistance which may be applied through the AIM Betterstart model.
